Happy birthday ADHZee

It is my daughter Zee’s 15th birthday today. She is diagnosed autistic, and self-identified with ADHD (lost in some endless NHS waiting list).

Zee loves baking, and one of her presents was a huge bottle of vanilla extract. “I must bake cupcakes immediately” she said.

She made the cake mixture, was about to put the cakes in the oven when she realised she had forgotten to preheat it.

She turned on the oven, and wandered off, forgetting to put the cakes in. I called her back down, and she put the cakes in, set a timer for 20 minutes, and wandered off again.

I checked the recipe, and they only take 10-12 minutes. I changed the timer to 10 minutes, and let her know.

About half an hour later, she panicked and shouted “mum, are my cakes OK?”.

Yes, only because I had taken them out for her.

She has just reappeared to make buttercream, forgetting she had already used up the last of the butter in the cake mix…

Yep, self-identification of ADHD is valid.
