Ausome Charlie’s Statement re: homophobic abuse of Sab Samuel (Aida H Dee)

It is just two days after IDAHOBIT (International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia), and what greeted me this morning in my Facebook newsfeed was the recording of a live video of Sab Samuel, distraught, heart-broken, and with a bruised and swollen face.

For those who don’t know of him, Sab is an author of children’s books with inclusive anti-bullying themes, and is known to many as Aida H Dee, Storytime Drag Queen. Aida is the patron of the non-profit organisation that I volunteer for in Iggy’s memory, AIM for the Rainbow (the queer volunteer corner of Autistic Inclusive Meets). He is a wonderful, caring young man who has brought joy to many thousands of families.

Last night, on what should have been joyous occasion for them, Sab and his fiancé were subjected to homophobic abuse, both verbal and physical.

I will not talk over him, so please watch the video here: https://fb.watch/s9JCJmHVIM

THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!

What the actual f**k is wrong with these people? Abuse like this is why my kid Iggy is dead. Is that what they want?

LGBTQIA+ people deserve to live our lives, without being vilified, tormented and attacked!
