Exactly this, thanks for articulating this, Autistic Callum.
Here’s my take:
Hierarchical seniority at work DOES NOT automatically equal better ideas, and more insight. This is one of the key reasons I eventually decided to become self-employed.
I could not take any more bad decisions from senior managers ignoring intelligent people lower in the chain of commands who actually have a clue what goes on in the team, and has better insight about what will or will not work.
It seems to me that autistic people seem more often to feel uncomfortable with this, compared with many of our neurotypical peers, although not many of us have the psychological safety to speak out. I cannot hold myself back from speaking out.
I cannot watch TV police dramas and similar without cringing every time a senior person pulls rank with their bad decision, or worse, their corrupt decision!
Not every senior manager is a good leader.

Society: “Autistic people do not understand hierarchies:.
Me: “Knows that hierarchies exist and understands how they operate, but doesn’t value them and doesn’t believe any human is:
a) more important than another: or
b) should mistreat/exploit those “lower down” the hierarchy”.
