Reflections on the PSA Speaking Business Summit

I am enjoying seeing all the posts about the PSA Speaking Business Summit.

I’m still processing, and I’m knackered, but wow, it was such an amazing experience!

I’ve made so many new friends, and cemented existing friendships.

I’ve learned from world renowned speakers, and put into practice what I observe about engagement, impact and working the crowd.

I performed the opening number at the cabaret night with a short comedy intro then playing bass and singing. Then played again in the scratch band after our new National President Michelle Mills-Porter The People Reader ’s closing keynote, such an uplifting collaborative experience!

I have polished my elevator pitch, when asked by so many wonderful people what it is I speak about, and why.

I have formed strong connections with other musicians, and other neurodivergent speakers, and many others.

The whole experience (although a whirlwind, and overwhelming at times) was incredible, and I have already booked for next year!

And I have never before had so many people approach me, smiling. Many told me how much they enjoyed my song in the cabaret night, how much I got the crowd going, what a great opening act it was. That was such a buzz, and all those encouraging appreciative comments kept those ‘dopamine hits’ coming all weekend!

For most of my adult life, I believed I was too shy and awkward to be in the limelight, but, with the help of the PSA, that confident teenager doing improv and amateur dramatics has re-emerged, and I’m loving it!
