Alvechurch Running Buddies

Charlie is also an England Athletics qualified Leader in Running Fitness, and run leader for our village social running group, Alvechurch Running Buddies (ARB).

With two England Athletics-qualified Leaders in Running Fitness (Amelia and Charlie) and three unofficial run leaders (all volunteers), ARB organise:

  •  Weekly social runs on Sunday mornings,
  •  Couch to 5K courses, and
  •  Training plans for races.

And our friendly, inclusive group is not competitive; our aim is to make running fun, sociable and safe (and free of charge).

We help encourage people to get out of the house to run with company, at any pace, enjoying the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of social running in Alvechurch.

Typically, we run at 9:30am on Sunday mornings, from Swan’s Length Playground where car parking is available. We usually try to offer at least two options: a slow chatty 5K (3.2 miles), and a longer faster option more suitable for those training for a running event.

The terrain of our routes varies – sometimes using the canal towpath, sometimes country lanes, sometimes cross-country or mixed terrain.

Note:  Although our EA-qualified run leaders are insured, ARB group members run entirely at their own risk, and we cannot be held responsible for accidents that happen when you run with us. Please assess your own fitness to run, and dress appropriately for the route and the weather conditions. Whenever we run on country lanes on duller or darker mornings, all runners are expected to wear something highly visible.
