For those who for whatever reason do not want to read the #MeToo post I shared yesterday, I have copied and pasted here just the rant at the end about how I could have really done with knowing that I was Autistic and ADHD.
Please teach your kids about consent, whatever gender they are. This is so important! Especially if they are autistic!
And if they are autistic, please make sure they know about it. Autism is not a label; it is vital information that we need to be able to look after ourselves! It is baffling to me that my autism went unnoticed.
When looking through my old photos to illustrate this blog, I found my old school reports. They show a plethora of evidence of my ADHD. I feel so let down by the system, that I struggled without understanding and medication all my life. How different could my university days have been? Why was I left to fall off the rails so hard?

Dunno about the school system there, but here, the kids who got diagnosed were the most troublesome. My brother got an ADHD diagnosis, but that was after doing a number of maybe autistic things like aggressively correcting the teacher any time she was wrong and using doodles to stim but still correctly answer gotcha questions. The ADHD mainly manifested in him with homework.
There was no support or understanding. Just give him a drug he refused to take because he didn’t like how it made him feel.
It helped when he tested into the gifted program as he got teachers with the time and inclination to challenge him.

I would bet for every kid diagnosed, there were four meeting the criteria who were not classroom management problems who didn’t.
